Electric toothbrush given up? No panic, there are several sustainable and affordable routes before the bin.
Is your electric toothbrush broken? Don’t panic. Before it goes anywhere near the bin, there are three realistic routes, and two of them cost far less than a new brush.
1. Repair it
Most “dead” brushes fail on one part: the battery. The motor, gears, and electronics are usually fine. A repair replaces the worn part and keeps the rest working. At Borstelbeer that’s €34 for most models, including parts, with a one-year guarantee.
2. Buy refurbished
If the brush really is beyond saving, a refurbished one is the next-most-circular option: professionally repaired, tested, waterproof, and delivered with a new brush head.
3. Recycle it properly
An electric toothbrush is e-waste, not household waste. The battery and motor contain materials worth recovering. Bring it to a milieustraat or an electronics shop’s collection point, never the grey bin.
